Hello everyone. As always it's great to have the opportunity to communicate with you. I am very happy with the progress I am seeing in the students. It overjoys me to see that they like learning. Welcome back to another wonderful year at our school. For this year, one of our goals is to acquire better computers for our technology lab. As you already know, computers are not inexpensive and in order for us to be able to reach this goal we are going to be asking for the cooperation and support of everyone, especially our parents. One approach that we are utilizing at this moment if that of a fundraiser. We are going to have a raffle of over 15 themed baskets that are available for viewing at the front office. The cost per ticket is $2 or three tickets for $5. If you wish to purchase tickets, you may do so at the office or send money with your child and I will obtain the tickets for you. Hello everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. Sometime this week, the students will be bringing home their permission slips for our upcoming fieldtrip to the Phoenix Zoo. The trip will be on Tuesday, May 1 and the admission will be $3.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a pleasant Spring Break. The Spelling Words for this week are: far, arm, yard, art, jar, bar, barn, bark, card, yarn, smart, chart. The homework schedule for this week is: Monday - write each spelling word five times, Tuesday - write one of the words in a complete sentence and illustrate the sentence, Wednesday - make spelling trees, Thursday - write each word five times.

One important reminder for this week is that students will be coming home this Friday with report cards. Please be sure to discuss them with your child and sign the bottom portion of it so that your child can return it to me.

As always it is wonderful to have to opportunity to communicate with you. I hope all is going well. In Reading and Science, we have been reading and learning about astronauts, trips to the moon, and the names of the planets. In Math, we have been practicing using the "counting on" method and "using a number line" to solve problems. I have noticed several students not scoring well on their spelling tests. Please be sure that you are helping them study their words at home. Also, here are some important events that we have coming up:

- Friday 2/24 Peter Piper Fundraiser at 51st Ave and Indian School Rd.
- Thursday 3/8 The Phoenix Symphony will perform at our school. You are invited to come. There will be two performances at 8 and 10 a.m.
- Thursday 3/15 Spring Pictures, the students don't have to wear a uniform.
- 3/19 to 3/23 Spring Break
- Friday 3/30 Report Cards come home with the students

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great year so far. This is what we have been learning in the past weeks. In Reading, the children have been focusing on intonation, reading words with (sh), (ch), and contractions. In Writing, the children have been writing reports on various animals. They know that when writing a report they must include information that is factual. In Math, they have been working with graphs. They know that there are several steps in creating a graph such as gathering data and incorporating it into the graph. As always it has been a joy to be able to communicate with you.
