December 31, 2010

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and that your Christmas was a great one. I would like to ask a favor of all of you before the children come back to school. I have noticed that many of the students are running low on their school supplies. It would be greatly appreciated if you could make sure they stock up on what they need. The most important supplies to get are pencils, erasers, crayons, notebooks, and tissues. Happy New Year! and see you all on January 3rd.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone. I hope all is going well. In class, the students have been continuing practicing their phonograms. They now seem to understand how important it is that they know them. They have also been practicing with writing their own sentences. They know that they must begin a sentence with a capital letter and must end it with a period. In math, they have been using different strategies to find answers to word problems. They especially enjoy having the opportunity to "act out" problems. I am proud of each and everyone of my students because they love to learn and they show it with their hard work. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving in the company of your loved ones. Take care.

The importance of sleep.

Wow! I can't believe the school year is almost over. We have been so busy in class that this year has flown right by us. I would still like to ask you though for your help with an important matter. I am seeing that many of my students are really struggling to stay awake during the afternoon. They are telling me that this is due to them going to sleep late at night. Research shows that children need between 8 and 10 hours of sleep each night in order to be alert for school and living a healthy lifestyle. Please be sure that your child goes to bed early enough to get plenty of rest. Between nine and ten at night is a suggestion. Thank you again for your support.
